The University of Wisconsin-Madison held a grand opening to commemorate the new Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center. With a commitment to health and wellbeing on campus, the completion of the state-of-the-art building is a significant milestone placing holistic wellbeing at the center. Kahler Slater and HOK partnered to design and deliver this project. JP Cullen served as the general contractor.
Located near Lake Mendota, the new 271,000 square foot Center offers students dedicated space which supports wellbeing services – such as massage therapy, peer wellness coaching, meditation, restorative studios, and a teaching kitchen. The facility also features a 25-yard recreational pool, eight multipurpose courts, ice arena, a climbing and bouldering wall, sports simulators, multipurpose studios, an indoor jogging track, a rooftop fitness area, and over 29,000 square feet of fitness space.
