Stevens Construction Corp., a full-service, Wisconsin-based general contractor, just celebrated the official grand opening of their new 15,000 square foot corporate headquarters in Madison, WI. A recent article in the Wisconsin State Journal announces the move.
The new building located in Madison includes 35 offices, expanded meeting and conference spaces, a training facility and other corporate support functions.
Kahler Slater provided architecture and interior design services. “As a construction company, they were able to incorporate some very unique elements that emphasize the brand image that Stevens Construction has created for itself,” said Designer Amber MacCracken.
Stevens Construction does all of its own concrete and carpentry work, and the public spaces inside the building showcase that craftsmanship. The Douglas-fir reception desk, board room table and paneling inside and outside of the board room were all custom built by Stevens Construction’s carpenters.
The building is set upon a concrete plinth of post tensioned concrete. On all sides, the building cantilevers out from the foundation wall—most dramatically at the front of the building, where the board room and other conference rooms are located. “You typically don’t see this type of construction on a project of this scale, but Stevens Construction wanted to highlight their expertise in this type of work, and it gave us the design flexibility to do some dramatic things,” said Glenn Roby, team leader for Kahler Slater’s Business Environments Team.
The 20-space underground parking structure not only allowed Stevens to create additional green space surrounding the building, but is also a working example of the post-tension concrete work the firm regularly performs for its clients.
“The design of our new office is a reflection of our company,” said Geoffrey Vine, President of Stevens Construction. “It is efficient and straight forward. Although not overly adorned, it is sophisticated and executed at the highest level of quality. This will be a great environment for us to grow in and improve on how we serve our clients in 2013 and well into the future.”
The opening of Stevens’ new corporate office wraps up an exciting 2012 for the company, as they also celebrated their 60th anniversary this year. Stevens has a pipeline of new projects that will contribute to their growth and momentum into the New Year.
