On May 18th, Milwaukee celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Mayor’s Design Awards. These awards honor projects of all scales that make a difference in the Milwaukee community. Dr. Robert Greenstreet (Dean, Architecture & Urban Planning, UWM) presided over the ceremony, and the Mayor and other city staff were on hand at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee’s School of Architecture & Urban Planning.
We are pleased to announce that Kahler Slater garnered three awards.
- 833 East - Category: Design That Grabs You - Great curb appeal, welcoming entries, distinct signage, active public space encouraging public gathering.
- Kimpton Journeyman - Category: Live. Work. Play - Extraordinary contribution to the live/work environment. Sensitive contribution to the neighborhood fabric. Interesting building or place for socializing.
- SpringHill Suites by Marriott - Category: Test of Time - Appropriate restoration or adaptive reuse, sensitive additions, renovation or expansion that’s harmonious with the original structure, rehab of original building façade.
