The Flambeau River YMCA recently celebrated the groundbreaking of its new facility in Park Falls, WI. The former Park Falls city hall is being renovated and added onto for the new Flambeau River YMCA. The vision for the future YMCA is to provide increased access to childcare, to create opportunities for afterschool programming for youth, to provide support for the senior population, and to offer community spaces where people can gather and connect. The facility will also include a 24-hour fitness center.
“This is definitely an amazing feeling. We're a couple of years into this project and today is the day that we've all been waiting for. There were lots of hurdles through the process and we finally got to where we need to be and we get to break ground and to see what this building is going to be transformed to be is so exciting,” said Allie Plessner, a Northwoods YMCA board member.
The Flambeau River YMCA will be a branch of the YMCA of the Northwoods, whose main location is in Rhinelander. Construction is expected to be completed in Spring 2025.
