Columbus Community Hospital celebrated the grand opening of a new $56 million fieldhouse and community recreation center, bringing fitness and wellness together under one roof to benefit the health of the entire community.
Built next to the hospital’s existing Health and Wellness Center, the new 260,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility offers sports and recreation, wellness, rehabilitative services, and specialized sports performance services. Known as “The House,” the fieldhouse includes a full indoor soccer and football field with synthetic turf, and a suspended running and walking track, which is one of the longest suspended tracks in the country. To enhance community wellness and support competitive sports, The House also includes a two-court gymnasium, eight pickle ball courts, tennis courts, racquetball courts, batting cages, locker rooms, and a physical therapy suite. Numerous community amenities provide opportunities for everyone. They include multi-support simulators, an 8,000 square foot trampoline park, an e-sports area, and an indoor realistic mini golf course.
“The Columbus Fieldhouse will be a game-changer for our community because there truly is something for everyone,” said Rob Marshall, director of the Columbus Fieldhouse. “The planning team has done an excellent job ensuring activity opportunities are available for individuals of all ages and skill levels. I’m excited to see the positive impact the facility will have on our community.”
Kahler Slater and TSP, Inc. designed and delivered the project, which is one of the only fieldhouses of its kind in Nebraska.
