Froedtert Health and the Medical College of Wisconsin needed to expand ambulatory facilities to serve their growing services, consolidate offerings from other sites and create a one-stop shop for patient care. Kahler Slater partnered with Irgens Development to plan and design the three-story, 40,000-square-foot clinic expansion for the Tosa Health Center in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
The expansion included a Hand Clinic, Spine Clinic, Plastics and Rejuvenation Center, Medispa and Comprehensive Vein Center for the Medical College of Wisconsin. The existing hand clinic moved into new space so that the existing spine clinic was able to expand into the decanted space. Plastics, Medispa, and Comprehensive Vein were practices spread across other areas of the city. Medical College of Wisconsin wanted to bring these specialty practices into one convenient location, both to serve patients better and increase brand awareness of these elective offerings.
A desire for a prominent lobby presence, product display and sales merchandise were integrated into the design of the waiting area for the Medispa. Upgraded finishes were provided throughout, creating an inviting and welcoming experience for patients and visitors.
The first floor primary care clinic was also renovated to include eight new exam rooms for Froedtert Health Community Physicians. A shared conference and break center for all staff was provided. The clinic expansion was designed with phased construction in mind, so the existing clinics could remain operational during construction.
