The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry is consistently recognized for its excellence in education, research, patient care and community service programs. As a core strategy to improve the program's ability to provide multi-specialty care in one location and sustain clinical excellence in education, UTHSC engaged Kahler Slater + Fleming Architects to design an addition and renovation to their aging facility.

The existing building serves as the gateway to the Health Sciences Campus therefore, designers intentionally wrapped the addition around the north and west face of the existing building in order to refresh the image of the campus. The recently opened updated facility provides an enhanced patient experience in order to attract new patients and ensure the school’s ability to obtain and conduct clinical research.
