With a mission to improve oral healthcare in Eastern Kentucky and expand access to dental care in the region, the University of Pikeville hired Kahler Slater and EOP Architects to plan and design a new state-of-the-art facility on campus. The new Tanner College of Dental Medicine will train future dental professionals who are committed to serving rural and underserved communities. By expanding preventative care and enabling earlier detection, the college aims to train dentists to help significantly improve long-term health outcomes.
Spaces within the building will include clinical spaces, a simulation lab, wet labs, sterilization areas, classrooms, conference and study rooms, student lockers, lounge space, and administration and faculty offices. The first cohort of students is expected to begin in June 2026.
Kahler Slater is leading the programming, planning, and design for this project in partnership with local firm, EOP Architects.
