Kahler Slater is currently partnering with the Dubuque YMCA to envision the future of wellness in response to their rapidly growing community. With an aging facility, it was apparent that a new building was needed in order to best serve the needs and wants of guests. The goals for the facility also include offering spaces for cooperative and community wellness programs – including schools and community groups who face limited space needs.

Kahler Slater’s team completed design concepts which feature a state-of-the-art aquatic and community center, nearly doubling their current space. Special attention was given to meet the top needs of the community, including enhancing recreational and community activity spaces and engaging a full range of community member’s levels of participation and engagement. The plans include two swimming pools, courts, fitness areas, community and wellness spaces and childcare.
